Business Office REOPENS!!! http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/2010/07/28/business-office-reopens/ http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/2010/07/28/business-office-reopens/#comments Wed, 28 Jul 2010 21:33:28 +0000 Denae http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/?p=60

We greatly appreciate our customers and your understanding at times like these. As many of you know, we are a family owned and operated company. This past week, a dear member of our family, Charles Heinselman, passed away. We temporarily closed our business offices for a few days to deal with neccesary arrangements and grief. Though our business office was close, our emergency department stayed active and busy – continuing to take care of your emergency needs. We are happy to anounce that we are now back up and running at full capacity.

Through this time, your love, caring, and understanding has outpoured on our family. We appreciate your condolences and love as we continue to go through this difficult time of grief. Charles was a much loved father and grandfather and will continue to live in our hearts.

Love,
John, Jeanine, and Denae Guerry & the Aardvark A/C Family

Condolences continued to be received through Waltrip Funeral Directors.

Hurricane Alex and Your A/C http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/2010/06/30/hurricane-alex-and-your-ac/ http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/2010/06/30/hurricane-alex-and-your-ac/#comments Wed, 30 Jun 2010 20:49:03 +0000 Denae http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/?p=49

With Hurricane Alex poising to strike Brownsville, TX any day now, we are getting a lot of rain from the outter bands. Thes thunderstorms may cause surges through your electrical system.

If you find you suddenly have no air conditioning…
FIRST check your breakers.
A tripped breaker can be from a minor surge. Reset breaker.

SECOND If you breakers continue to repeatedly trip, you mave have damage from a larger surge or other underlying issue.
Do not continue running damaged equipment. Call us immeadiately for a comphrensive diagnosic in to the cause of the damage.

Be Proactive.
If you have had past issues with area surges or have sensitive modern equipment, ask us about installing a SurgeSafe system to protect against electrical surges. Today’s air conditioning systems use expensive computer motherboards to control your household comfort. Replacing these computer parts is not wallet friendly.

Allergy relief from NASA on the way. http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/2010/04/21/allergy-relief-from-nasa-on-the-way/ http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/2010/04/21/allergy-relief-from-nasa-on-the-way/#comments Wed, 21 Apr 2010 14:16:47 +0000 Denae http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/?p=46

I don’t know about you, but my nose has been going CRAZY with all this pollen. It’s enough to make a grown girl cry. As always we have been at the forefront of indoor air quality (the air WITHOUT all those nasty allergens) technology.

Having much of the coolest technology it takes a lot to get us excited. A LOT must then officially mean NASA because we are definitely excited about our latest technology. Our latest IAQ product does some pretty cool things like killing viruses and bacteria, even sanitizing your kitchen countertops to 99.9% germ free (and door knobs too!). That’s as good as Lysol without all the work since it works quietly throught the entire house 24/7. Cool fact #2 has to be that not only is it effective a killing one germ to an effectiveness of 99.9%, it literally kills EVERY germ. Throughout extensive testing (this is NASA we are talking about) they did not find one bacteria or virus that it couldn’t kill. (Even that antibotic resistent Staph or H1N1). And its green: no harmful chemicals, radiation, or CFC/Carbon emissions.

I am sure you can see why we have a waitlist on this product. Would this been great for your family? Especially kids who can pick up school germs? Call 281-955-1163 or schedule a proposal online today.

Maintenance Scheduling Thwarted http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/2010/04/13/maintenance-scheduling-thwarted/ http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/2010/04/13/maintenance-scheduling-thwarted/#comments Tue, 13 Apr 2010 15:39:33 +0000 Denae http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/?p=38

It’s that time again, Spring! and Houston is proving once again that it loves bipolar weather. We are rarely seeing consistant nice balmy spring days and we keep getting these weird half cold, half hot days. Remember A/C maintenance scheduling is not like heating. The weather does effect our ability to perform air conditioning maintenance.

We can’t perform maintenance if….
It is less than 75 degrees outside.
It is raining.
Untill we get more even baking remember to schedule your maintenance in the afternoon and watch the weather forcast for rain.

But Whhhyyy?!
Air Conditioning works because it uses state change (liquid -> gas) to create cold indoor air. That state change is heavily influenced by Boyle’s law (it states that pressure and temperature are related). By changing the temperature we can change the pressure and therefore control the state change. Yep a lot of fun physics. So in the end temperature (outside) and pressure (atmospheric – thats the rain part) have everything to do with your ability to actually cool your home. Have you ever tried using your A/C in the middle of 45 degree winter? Its not a pretty sight and can ruin your system.

Help, Can’t Breathe! http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/2010/03/09/help-cant-breathe/ http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/2010/03/09/help-cant-breathe/#comments Tue, 09 Mar 2010 15:35:40 +0000 Denae http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/?p=21

It’s no secret. I have allergies. The kind where you feel fine until … (insert scary music) … that weather hits. The past two weeks have been hard on me. The one two punch from the rain storms and cold front have knocked me down hard. My head has been hurting, I feel sluggish, and my airways start to close at the worst times. Reflecting on this time year after year reminds me that I am not the only one with this curse.

Thankfully there are many solutions on the market making in-home allergen control easier. The struggle comes in navigating your way through your many options. In IAQ, there are two main components: filtration and purification. Filtration removes particulates such as dust, pollen, smoke, and VOCs (off gasing from chemicals). Purification kills things such as bacteria, mold, mildew, and virsus. Dehumidication not only removes moisture from the air but also prevents many types of organic growth. A dehumidification can drastically improve ease of breath for an asthmatic by creating lighter, purer air.

Dehumidification

Need help navigating all the options? Schedule an appointment with one of our Indoor Air Quality Specialist.
PS: If your allergies are really bad or you have a lung condition, your health insurance may cover part of the cost of improving you home air quality.

When you thought it couldn’t get better… http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/2009/03/11/when-you-thought-it-couldnt-get-better/ http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/2009/03/11/when-you-thought-it-couldnt-get-better/#comments Wed, 11 Mar 2009 15:04:50 +0000 Denae http://aardvarkcares.com/blog/2009/03/11/when-you-thought-it-couldnt-get-better/

We knew that the Energy Tax Credit was brought back for 2009, but we didn’t expect it to be revised and extended through 2010. Energy Saving Light Bulbs Mid-February the United States Legislature made extensive revision to the current Energy Tax Credit Program. These changes were passed within the context of the Economic Stabilization and Revitalization Bill (HB.1).

Exciting new things in the newly revised program:
- Clean Slate: If you used the previous benefit $500 maximum it will not count against you. All new benefits are cumulative over the 2009 and 2010 years only.
- More Money: Instead of the previous $500 maximum, you can claim up to $1,500.
- Easier to Claim Full Benefit: Calculations have changed on how you figure out how much benefit you receive out of each qualifying purchase. New calculations are based off of installed price not a set category amount.
- No More Category Limits: Lets you use all $1,500 in upgrading your insulation or spreading it out among many qualifying purchases.
